{"id":27,"date":"2012-10-20T10:26:08","date_gmt":"2012-10-20T15:26:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/david.klamet.net\/blog\/?p=27"},"modified":"2012-10-20T10:50:56","modified_gmt":"2012-10-20T15:50:56","slug":"wal-mart-trickery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/david.klamet.net\/blog\/2012\/10\/20\/wal-mart-trickery\/","title":{"rendered":"Wal Mart Trickery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am finally getting around to recording a Wal Mart practice that is clearly meant to be misleading.<\/p>\n<p>If you look at the seafood freezer you will see their frozen shrimp.\u00a0 Shrimp is graded by size&#8211; the number per pound&#8211;so you might see a package of say&#8211;41-50\/lb.&#8211;.<\/p>\n<p>At most grocery stores, the packages will contain a pound of shrimp, or perhaps multiple pounds.<\/p>\n<p>However&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>WalMart packages have the size of the shrimp, and since you see the &#8220;per pound&#8221; label, you would also assume that that the package contains a pound, but I noticed that the package sizes are usually 12 oz. , sometimes 14.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly misleading.\u00a0 I avoid buying shrimp there whenever I can, and I have changed my shopping practices.\u00a0 I do not buy exclusively from local grocers (their big chains, too), but I do buy as much as I can, and I do buy from Checker&#8217;s, the one local grocer (or at least the smallest chain) whenever I can.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am finally getting around to recording a Wal Mart practice that is clearly meant to be misleading.
